Alexey Velikiy, the creator of Hastic, wanted to make an open source tool for time-series data analytics. That’s why he thought it would be cool to choose a name that would reflect the tool's purpose. He came up with the idea to take the word "stochastic" and play with it a little. That is how the name "Hastic" was born.
Stochastic is a word, that describes something that was randomly determined. With Hastic we aim to determine patterns in time-series data.
